Best practice with PMMA

PMMA is a wonderful material, sturdy and durable. But as with all plastics, it could be prone to scratches. Do not play with jewellry or wristwatch on. I've conducted tests on mine, it can easily withstand a lot of abuse, even some punches is the defeat is too crushing, but it could shatter upon impact in case of fall on the ground. Keep the impacts virtuals.

Do NOT use alcohol/solvent based product to clean it.

COMPATIBILITY & TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

Which sticks is the case compatible with ?

Due to the height of the case, only Sanwa sticks (JLF and JLX series) are compatible.

Which buttons are compatible?

The case supports:

• 30 mm main buttons (Sanwa, Seimitsu, Qanba, etc.)
• 24 mm auxiliary buttons for Start/Select/Back/etc.

It’s recommended to use screw-in buttons.

Which PCBs are compatible?

The provided board tray is compatible with any usb board using the Brook form factor. I recommend using either a Brook Gen5 series board or a GP2040 Advanced Breakout board

Is the case compatible with PS4 / PS5 / Xbox?

It depends on the PCB you install, not the case itself. For PS5 and Xbox Series, an additionnal dongle may be required.

Is the stick plug-and-play?

• Case-only models: No, you need to install your own PCB, wiring, and joystick.
• Fully wired models (e.g., cat-shaped prototype): Yes, plug-and-play via USB, depending on PCB compatibility with your system.

What is the PMMA thickness?

PMMA panel thickness: 3 mm, doubled on top and bottom

Is the wrist rest removable?

No.

The bent PMMA wrist rest is part of the main structure.

What is the total weight?

Approximate weight: 1,7 kg (depending on components installed.)

Are the button holes compatible with screw-in AND snap-in buttons?

Yes.

Both snap-in and screw-in buttons fit (30 mm / 24 mm), although you will have a sturdier assembly with screw-ins.

Is there enough space for a silent JLF, octogate, or spring mod?

Yes.

The internal height supports:

• Silent JLF mods
• Octogates
• Springs and lever mods
• Standard balltop or battop

Can I install a Korean joystick (Crown, etc.)?

No.

The mounting pattern and internal depth are not compatible.

Is the USB cable detachable?

Yes.

All builds use a standard external USB cable.

Can the case be opened easily for modding?

Yes.

All parts are screwed together (no glue), accessible from top or bottom.

Which OLED module fits the cutout?

The window fits a 1.3" OLED module, typical SSD1306 footprint.

Internal height?

Internal height clearance: 37 mm.

Can I install an SOCD cleaner?

Yes.

Any compact SOCD-cleaner PCB fits inside.

Can I install an optical joystick (Flash1, Spark CE)?

Yes, as long as it uses the Sanwa JLF format.

ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS

How do I install the joystick?

The JLF mounts from the inside using M4 screws.

Access is via the top panel.

Does the case open from the top or bottom?

You can open it either way, although once installed it’s recommended to open it from the bottom.

Are the threaded inserts already installed?

Yes.

All threaded inserts are pre-installed in the 3d printed parts.

Is there a wiring tutorial?

Are cables included?

Only for fully-wired models.

Case-only versions include no wiring.

How do I wire the leverless directional buttons?

The extra directional buttons map to:

• UP / DOWN / LEFT / RIGHT
• with shared GND

Exact pin mapping depends on your PCB.

Is there room for a Brook board + USB daughterboard?

Yes, but you will have to find a way to secure it.

Will screw-in buttons hit the bottom panel?

No, but with standard connectors it will be a tight fit, it’s recommended to bend them.

Is it possible to add internal weights?

Yes.

Thin steel plates or adhesive weights can be added. Be careful of buttons location though.

Some buttons feel tight. What should I do?

Laser-cut holes have tight tolerance.

Press firmly or rotate slightly during insertion.

There are minor marks on the plexi. Why?

Prototypes may show small surface marks from bending or assembly.

A 3d printed part cracked. Can you replace it?

Yes — replacement parts can be printed on request (quote required).
